  1. Superhero League of Hoboken Solve
  2.  
  3. Well, I've solved this game yesterday (09/25/94) a scant week after buying 
  4. the game. It's by Legend entertainment - the makers of Spring Break 101, 201, 
  5. and 301 and numerous other pun-filled adventure games in the tradition of 
  6. Infocom!!!! And likewise this game had tons of brainers and puns to make you 
  7. sick. There were some tough parts but with a little thought to everything it 
  8. wasn't that hard to solve. 
  9. In the game you are Crimson Tape, the intrepid leader of a superhero league 
  10. in Hoboken New Jersey. Seems life sucks for the general populace since the 
  11. BIG ONE and so many superhero leagues have sprouted up all over the country. 
  12. At the start of the game your league is kinda ranked low (very low - try last) 
  13. but under your leadership it shouldn't be to hard to gain the status and 
  14. respect all superheros desrve. ("Snicker, snicker", giggled Dr. Entropy - 
  15. He's the numero uno bad guy here)
  16.  
  17. Ok enough of the chit chat let's get on the solve. I've arranged the solve 
  18. into two parts the first part goes through each mission and the second part 
  19. tells you about all the sectors and places you can visit in this post-nuclear 
  20. northeast sector of the world. If you need a particular hero you'll be 
  21. notified but otherwise it doesn't matter who you use. Also, pick up anthing 
  22. you can get your hands on. Some things I don't remember where I got it.
  23.  
  24. Part I: THE SOLVE
  25. ------------------------
  26. Mission Group I.        *need Iron Tummy and RoboMop
  27.     Special Stuff: The chatterbox - nothing interesting
  28.     Go downstairs and get Frank Sinatra's tape from wax figure.
  29.  
  30. A)      Limburger Bomb: Buy Cheese-eating microbes from pawn broker (PB) in 
  31.             Patterson. Pour it on the bomb. Clean transmission 
  32.             fluid with the rag.
  33. B)      Rabid Sheep:    Buy Sheep spray from PB in Patterson. Spray it on 
  34.             sheep. Clean sheep drool with rag.
  35. C)      Dr. Entopy:     (Should be last one you do). In Edison's museum, read 
  36.             the warrenty. Use rag on plating. Use SuperPower 
  37.             clean any mess on garbage. Unplug machine. Get cone 
  38.             and light bulb.
  39. D)      Computer:       Break pot. Get magnet. Re-enter temple and clean dirt 
  40.             with rag. Get plant.
  41. F)      Jalapeno Peppers: It's in a factory in Newark (10,2). Use SP eat hot 
  42.             stuff on jalapenos. Get rag.
  43.  
  44. Mission Group II.       *need Miss Pepperoni
  45.     Special Stuff: Chatterbox - nothing
  46.     In Bernardsville market get the placecard.
  47.     In Piscataway Marketplace buy the 50y Transmitter and wire cutters 
  48.     from pawn broker.
  49.  
  50. A)      Silly Putty:    Travel around until you can walk on water. Get the 
  51.             Old Pappy suit from locker in Newark Air Tower. Go to 
  52.             old man. Talk to old man. Wear old pappy suit and 
  53.             talk to old man again. Remove old pappy suit and talk 
  54.             to old man again. Get the egg.
  55. B)      Scranton Superhero: Tubecar is Newark to Scranton. Get rubber tube 
  56.             and bowlderizer from the tubecar stations. In the 
  57.             Scranton HQ ask Miss Pepporoni to shoot the gun.
  58. C)      Piscataway Warlord: Take the bust from the shelf. Put magnet on 
  59.             shelf. Do whatever until warlord tries to leave. 
  60.             Get paperweight.
  61. D)      Dr. Entropy:    Goto JFK air port and use Heli to ride to Newark 
  62.             tower. Open 50y transmitter and put in Sinatra's 
  63.             tape. Then close transmitter and turn it on. Ride 
  64.             heli back.
  65. E)      Guacamole:      At guacamole factory, take the frosted panel. Get 
  66.             the 98w bulb and put 100w bulb in socket. Get both 
  67.             things.
  68.  
  69. Mission Group III.      *nobody special
  70.     Special Stuff:  Lost N2O in Patterson. Return to Yonker's Shaman.
  71.     Get museum key from HQ locker.
  72.     Sector 4D (8,4) Bird watcher's giev you bird call. Deliver it to 
  73.         Princeton bird wachers.
  74.     Orienteering guide to get through woods bought from Yonker's PB
  75.  
  76. A)      Radiation:      Buy Long John's from Yonker's PB and go to Mineola 
  77.             Sector 4C at 1,9. *Heli doesn't take you there!!!
  78. B)      Historical Relic: At the Patterson's Warlord Mansion. Get N2O, 
  79.             fur coat and coat rack. Visit the George 
  80.             Washington's museum and place coat rack on spot. 
  81.             Take everything you see, teeth, wig, and coat.
  82. C)      Dr. Entropy:    (Should be last on because you need 4 tokens which 
  83.             you get from the other missions in this group) 
  84.             Place construction place card on steel framework. 
  85.             Get green passcard. (There's a yellow pass card in 
  86.             Grand Central if you haven't gotten it yet)
  87. D)      Piscataway Priests: At temple, go left. Hide under table then wait 
  88.             until you see everything. (I mean pass the time by 
  89.             using the waiting command) Then pres knob. It 
  90.             triggers the loose floorboard. Get floorboard. 
  91.             Cut wires. Leave when coast is clear.
  92. E)      Liberty Bell:   First you must have returned the N2O to Yonker's 
  93.             Shaman. Go to Philly. (New brunswick to AC to Philly) 
  94.             Put rubber tube in crack of bell. (Sounds lewd) Put 
  95.             N2O in tube. Shake N2O. Lift Bell. Take whistle.
  96.  
  97. Mission Group IV.       *nobody special
  98.     Special stuff:  Tremor in Philly opens up tunnel.
  99.     Capt Midas from Ben Franklin House or was it the Health Spa? :)
  100.  
  101. A)      Times Square Cult: Go to Yankee stadium. Pour Aluminum 
  102.             microbes on safe. Get ball. Go to Times Square. 
  103.             Give ball to Dick Clark. Pick up all the bedisters 
  104.             you see from the end of the missions in this group.
  105. B)      Dr. Entropy:    (Last one because you need the 4 bedistors ) Go to 
  106.             vault in uptown New York. Read sign. Head for 
  107.             Poughkeepsie. In Poughkeepsie break in to office at 
  108.             (12,2) and get all. Go to vault again. Read the 
  109.             printout. Use bar on Billy Martin's cannister, 
  110.             it should be the fourth one. Take corpse. Head for 
  111.             Yankee stadium. Put Billy's corpse in booth. Close 
  112.             booth. Plug in all bedisters then push blue button. 
  113.             Open booth.
  114. C)      Yale & Princeton: Go to New Haven from the tubecar in Empire State 
  115.             Building. Visit the south campus first. Go to north 
  116.             campus. Take all from the right room including the 
  117.             washing machine. Place washing machine on right spot. 
  118.             Stand on left spot. Wait until the Yalies arrive. 
  119.             Listen and leave. Go to Princeton library and talk to 
  120.             coach. Take bedister.
  121. D)      SLF & Mice:     In Shea Staduim. Use whistle. Take bedister.
  122. E)      Relic in Philly Sewers: Go through the sewers or just head for the 
  123.             SW corner. It's a book.
  124.  
  125. Mission Group V.        *need Capt. Midas
  126.     Special stuff: nothing
  127.  
  128. A)      Poughkeepsi Warlord: Wear Washington's teeth, wig and coat and 
  129.             talk him out of it.
  130. B)      3 Tribes:       In New Haven 7,12 visit the wise man. Get music. 
  131.             Practice to get to Carnagie Hall. Sit at piano. 
  132.             Play piano then get the sandbag. Leave by entering 
  133.             the light. If you haven't visited the marketplace 
  134.             in New Haven then do so now and buy the termite 
  135.             hactery. Go to United Nations in Downtown NY. Give 
  136.             totem. Go to Radio City in Downtown NY. Give totem.
  137. C)      Huntington Warlord:  Go there and look at the table. Get videotape 
  138.             and give it to the curator in the Princeton library.
  139. D)      Shaman:         Go to Freehold and talk to Shaman then talk to 
  140.             hardware shopkeeper then talk to hostelry clerk 
  141.             then talk to madam at brothel, then shaman, and 
  142.             madam again. Give fur coat to madam. Use Superpower 
  143.             (midasize) on items in inventory until you get a 
  144.             scarf or "muffler" as they used to call it. It 
  145.             should occur after two tries. Give scarf to the 
  146.             madam. Then after receiving rates give rates to 
  147.             hostelry clerk, then give hostelry rates to hardware 
  148.             shopkeeper, then give hardware rates to Shaman.
  149. E)      Dr. Entropy:    (Last one since you need four casino chips received 
  150.             from the other missions. You also need a termite 
  151.             hatchery). Go to Atlantic City and use chips on 
  152.             slot machine. Climb the stairs. Open termite 
  153.             hatchery. Place termite eggs, bought from some PB, 
  154.             in hatchery. Close hatchery. Turn on hatchery. 
  155.             Open hatchery.
  156.  
  157. Mission Group VI.       *need Princess Glovebox
  158.     Special stuff:  Staten Islane PB is selling rafts and canoes. 
  159.             You need one so buy the raft. 
  160.     Gerlado special is being filmed in AC. You have to get stuff from that 
  161.             vault so go check that out.
  162.  
  163. A)      Dr. Entropy:    (Last one you should do since you need items found 
  164.             from the completeion of other missions on this 
  165.             group). Get android manual. Read it. Open bud, 
  166.             put cone on bud. Pout soup on bud (fungi), Put 
  167.             alligator poop on bud, and put uranium pellet on bud. 
  168.             Give bud to android. Climb up the stairs.
  169. B)      Cult in Harrisburg: Travel around Harrisburg because you need a 
  170.             paperclip if you want to finish this mission. You 
  171.             should get one from a battle. Once you receive a 
  172.             paper clip head for three mile island. Put paper 
  173.             clip in the electrodes. Pull lever. Put gum on hole. 
  174.             Pull lever again. Get uranium pellet. Visit the 
  175.             marketplace and the hostelry. He should have a 
  176.             master tubecar access pass.
  177. C)      Alligators in NY: Well you have to comb the subway tunnels. In those 
  178.             niches you meet 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 then 5 
  179.             alligators before you finish this mission. You'll 
  180.             get alligator poop when you've completed this 
  181.             mission.
  182. D)      Hostelry in SI: Use Superpower (fold maps) on maps and get can of 
  183.             bud. Buy the raft if you haven't allready done so 
  184.             from the PB. Also he should have a silver passcard.
  185. E)      Miracle in Scranton: You should visit Atlantic City before coming 
  186.             here. You need the newspapers. In Scranton head for 
  187.             the marketplace. Place newspapers in newspaper box. 
  188.             Wait until the delivery truck arrives and the 
  189.             newspapers are put into the box. All done.
  190.  
  191. Mission VII.    *need Magnitude of 10
  192.     Special stuff:  Accident in Scranton.
  193.  
  194. A)      Dr. Entropy:    Visit the accident in Scranton. Use Superpower 
  195.             (magnitude of 10) on bananas. Do this until you 
  196.             can pick it up. Go to Buffalo. At the reststop 
  197.             use Superpower (magnitude of 10) on tree. At the 
  198.             Chippawa Marketplace buy the Beaver Jaw potion 
  199.             (look at the potions since it's in French). Go back 
  200.             to reststop and use Superpower (beaver Jaw) to cut 
  201.             the tree down. Then head for (3,11) and get the 
  202.             barrel. Then walk around the island until villigers 
  203.             ask you to transport them back and they'll renounce 
  204.             the ways of war. You should get a plowshare and 
  205.             pruning hook from them. After receiving this head 
  206.             for Farmer Ben. Talk to Ben. Give barrel, plowshare, 
  207.             and pruning hook to Ben. Head back to the Empire 
  208.             State Building. Press elevator call button on right 
  209.             elevator. Then enter elevator and it should take you 
  210.             to the top. After the interlude use superpower 
  211.             (magnitude of 10) on bananas and again and again 
  212.             until King Kong notices it. Then turn off projector.

  215. CONGRATULATIONS ON SAVING THE WORLD FROM DR. ENTROPY at least until the next 
  216. installment on Superhero League of Hoboken comes out!!!!!
